Henry Coleman was an African American who lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was a member of the United House of Prayer movement. He served in the United States Army during the early 1940s and was discharged following an injury sometime before 1943. In 1943 he took a job as a porter on the Pennsylvania Railroad.
